Overwhelmed? It's all about time management

Apr 26 / Tina Joy Cochran
As creatives we have a great deal of confidence that we can "figure it out".  We are comfortable using the creative power God has given us to find solutions to life's challenges.

So, when we find ourselves overwhelmed with all that is required for the life we want,  getting better at time management it our first thought.

So, every day we struggle to do more, be more, learn more and every night we crash into bed thinking we will do better tomorrow.

What if there's a better way?  I'm here to tell you there is and it's not what you think.
“Time management” can be defined as the process of organizing and planning how to divide your time between specific activities.  We believe that good time management  will help us to work smarter not harder.  Why? So that we can get more done in less time, even when time is tight and pressures are high.

But the Bible says:  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. - John 14:27

What if we can reduce overwhelm by controlling less and embracing peace?

What if it only takes 3 steps?

Growing a creative business is hard, there are so many things to do, decisions to make and risks to take.  It's easy to find yourself in a place of overwhelm and ready to quit.  As a business coach for creative women of faith the question I get asked most often is:  "How do I better organize my time to get everything done?"

As much as I would like to tell you that there is something that will fix it for good, I'd be lying.   BUT, there is a way to reduce the overwhelm you feel about life/work balance.  It takes practice, prayer and time but it's one of the best things you can do for your businesss, life and those you love.

Step #1: STOP - stop trying to figure out a way to have it all.  For decades the world and the church  have told us that we can be and do #AllTheThings if we just figure out a way to manage it.

That's a lie designed to keep us playing small and too busy to be the amazing woman God designed.

Step #2:  BREATH - right now, while you are reading this take a deep breath in.. hold it for 3 seconds and then slowly let it out.  I bet you didn't even realize you were holding your breath did you?

Step #3: DO ONE THING - look around, what is the one thing that is most important in this moment?  Not all the things on your list but the one task that matters right now.  Pick one, then do that.  Then pick another and do that.

Do yourself, your family and the world around you a favor.  Stop trying to have it all at the same time, and just embrace the peace that Jesus left for you.  I promise, you'll get more done and it will be worth it.

Can we talk?  Sometimes the best thing you can do is talk it through with someone.  I offer a free consultation to help creative women of faith find clarity, confidence and motivation for their business and life.  Schedule yours here:
